WHY SHOULD I USE A POLAR SERVICE CENTRE

The Polar Heart Rate Monitor with Transmitter is a specialised piece of electronic componentry. It is not just a wrist watch and should not be treated as such when getting it serviced. Internally it is constructed differently and requires re-sealing everytime the backplate is removed.

The primary reason for having the receiver pressure tested is to ensure the resistance to sweat and water is maintained. As the heart rate monitor is used as a tool in exercise, it must be sealed against sweat entering the unit. Once moisture enters the receiver, the internal electronic components can be permanently damaged beyond any economical repair.

Polar service centre personnel, have a knowledge base in the many functions of the various models Polar have produced since 1982. They are also experienced in servicing these units, finding and rectifying faults. The functions and operation of each Polar heart rate monitor are checked using diagnostic equipment supplied by Polar Electro Oy.

Pressure Testing the Polar Receiver

After servicing and re-assembly, each Polar heart rate monitor receiver (wrist component) is pressure tested in a vacuum chamber to the factory recommended pressure for the particular model.

    Testing the Polar Transmitter

The Polar transmitter is also diagnosed in a special piece of test equipment to check:
  • the internal voltage of the battery
  • the resistance of both electrodes
  • the transmission range of the signal
An indication to the reliability and life expectancy of the transmitter can the be gauged.

POLAR SERVICE PROCEDURE

The Polar standard tests and check procedures are performed by our service technicians when all parts of the Polar Heart Rate Monitor are returned to us for servicing. Service performed at an authorized Polar Service Center is warranted for 90 days on repairs performed.
