Installation CD supplied with the IRwave USB2.0 IR-721 adapter used by Polar.
Compatible with Microsoft Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP
Note. These drivers are not for Microsoft Vista. (Vista drivers are built into the O/S for this device)
Installation proceedure for Microsoft Vista »
This is the same device as the Polar USB2.0 adapter.
|
- Connects to a standard PC or Notebook USB port
- Power source directly from the USB port
- Support for Hi-Speed USB2.0 connections
- Transmission range 1cm-100cm
- Supported with Polar software on an IBM platform with Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP only
Note. The software driver must be installed before plugging in the IRwave adapter.
Steps to install the IRwave USB driver.
Insert the cd into the drive. The installation should autostart as above.
Continue Anyway.
Now connect the IRwave infrared device into the USB port.
Windows recognises the IRwave as a new device and starts the installation wizard.
Continue Anyway.
When the interface is
installed correctly you will note that a
led will randomly flash inside the unit (viewed through the front red cover or on the side). If the led is
on solid or does not flash, the
driver is not installed correctly. Put the cd back in, un-install the driver, reboot the PC and re-install again using the above proceedure.
Note: The LED inside the adapter will randomly flash when not being used.
This will happen irrespective of whether the Polar training software is installed or not.
By looking at the Windows Device Manager will indicate the device is operational.
To test the IRwave device
Put the Polar receiver into CONNECT mode - refer to the User Manual on how to do this
Face the Polar receiver infrared window towards the top of the IRwave within 50cm (on the S-Series infrared window is on the top of the receiver; on the F55, the infrared window is on the top on the display). Place mouse over symbol to see what device was detected.
The computer/IRwave will detect the Polar receiver; a noise will be heard and an infrared symbol will appear on the task bar next to the time (as shown running Windows XP)
This should happen irrespective of the Polar software being installed or run. If the computer does not detect the Polar receiver, the Polar software will not be able to communicate with the IRwave device.
The Polar software options are to be set for IrDA
When using the IRwave USB2.0 device with Polar software,
always configure the software for IrDA.
When using the IRwave USB2.0 device with Polar software, always uncheck the USB INTERFACE AUTOCHECK option as this is only used for the original Polar USB interface.
Note. The USB 2.0 IrDA IRwave Infrared Adapter is compatible with the Polar:
S610i, S710i, S720i, S810i, S625X, S725X, RS400, RS800, CS600, XN500 and AXN700 using the Polar Protrainer 5 software and the Polar F55 using WebLink running under Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP on IBM compatible hardware. If installing on Microsoft Vista, DO NOT install the drivers supplied on the CD - Vista uses its own drivers.
(not compatible with the earlier Polar S610, S710 and S810 models)
