Many Polar users have been able to use Polar software on Intel-based Mac computers by using a Windows emulating software, such Parallels and with Apple Boot Camp.

Here you can find an example installation of Polar IrDA USB 2.0 Adapter and ProTrainer 5 / Polar Precision Performance software on Mac.
Hardware/software used in the example:
- MacBook Pro 2GHZ running OSX10.4.8
- Parallels (Build 3120 RC) running XP Pro.
- Polar Precision Performance SW (v. 4.03.044) / ProTrainer 5 (v. 5.10.120)
To install Polar IrDA USB 2.0 Adapter to Parallels
1. Start Parallels.
2. Plug in Polar IrDA USB 2.0 Adapter.
3. Release the use of the adapter (shown as
STIr42xx) in Parallels.

Hardware Wizard opens.
4. Go through the default PC installation process. For instructions, see Related Documents.
5. After installation you can see the adapter in Device Manager.
To install Polar software to Parallels
1. Install Polar Precision Performance SW and update it to its latest version / Install ProTrainer 5 from CD and allow automatic update from Help ? Check for updates.
2. Start software and enter your personal information.
3. Test data transfer.
Once again this is not supported by Polar so support on this procedure is unavailable. However, as more information becomes available through end user feedback, more details will be posted here. Any feedback is welcome if you have been successful in running Polar software on the latest "Intel processor" based Macintosh computers.
