Heart Rate Graph - Half Marathon (Polar Protrainer 5 software)

Damien and I ran a half marathon for kicks on my birthday. I promised a couple of mates we would run 85 and win the teams event. I might have lied a little! My housemate tore a calf at the 8km mark and had to walk home, whilst our other team mate pulled a heart muscle and ran more slowly. So Danger and I ran a steady first 10km then started pushing it to hit around the 3m 30s/km mark. I drifted a fair amount in the last 5km, largely due to a long ride being in my legs the day before. Damien and I chatted for most of the first hour, it was on the last 15 that was a bit tough. We followed this up with a coffee with our respective families, plus the obligatory croissant!

So I’m doubling down my effort and will be back in the saddle for the Ironman in Busselton in 6 weeks. It will be great to actually use all this fitness rather than have an extended break just yet - that will have to wait for December. I’ll race the Half Ironman in Shepparton in 3 weeks as a way to bring up my fitness.
